Is Pakistan a gone state?

“Is Pakistan a gone state”.  This is a recent search query which led someone to one of my blogs.  I figured I’d post an answer to this question, in case others come seeking the answer.  And my answer is:

NO. DON’T EVEN THINK IT.

And if others feel the same, I’d suggest you put a little comment under this post.  If you disagree, STAY AWAY.

  1. My Opinions says:

No, Pakistan is not a failed state, because if it is then practically all of the countries in south asia are as they have similar or worse problems. Pakistan has the lowest percentage of people living under $1 a day in all of south asia, in fact, 34.3% of Indian population live under $1 a day, compared to only 17.0% of Pakistani population according to Human Development Report 2007-2008. In bangladesh, it’s 42% of its population!

As for terrorism, we are the ACTUAL victims of terrorism thanks to USA and Afghanistan wars. We cannot be blamed for it because pre-9/11 and Taliban infiltration there was no extremism in Pakistan.

We also have both abundant natural resources (E.g. in Balochistan) as well as human resources, as well as other treasures such as our strategic location on world’s map.

As for governance, we still have great & patriotic leaders like Musharraf who can lead the country to success, given a more peaceful enviroment in the country. But it’s going to take a lot effort, I agree.

So in conclusion, Pakistan is here to stay whether you like it or not :-)

Don’t even think about it, this can be only thought by someone who just knows talking and no action, come to action and make a difference. Pakistan is forever. NO DOUBT.

  4. I just can’t describe my feelings when I read such comments… Keep Movin’ guys…

  5. Moazam says:

    This is quite frankly absurd!
PAKISTAN may have issues, what country doesn’t?
It may even have crises and very deep ones, but the people and the institutions are tackling them all. Some better than the others, but haven’t given up on them. The day we give up on trying to solve the problems we face as a country, we will certainly be a failed state, and even worse a failed nation.

  6. Dr imran fida says:

i disagree with any and everyone who says that pakistan is a failed state. this beautiful country has provided us with everything we may desire. we have miserably failed our country and to be more specific our elders have. in doing so they have provided an opportunity to people with ulterior motives to come up with such bogus claims.

  7. Talha says:

Strongly disagree – Pakistan may have issues, but MY PAKISTAN is NOT a failed state.

  8. MystaKool says:

If the people of a state believe in themselves and their capabilities, and more importantly their unity with their own people, there is no way that a state will whither away one day. And if we talk about Pakistan, the people of Pakistan are far better than many, and believe in themselves and their abilities much more than any other country in the world…. its only a matter of the people finding their true leaders, and believing in one another and their unity more than anything else.
